Professor Law chosen to head Energy Frontier Research Center
May 5, 2009

The Department of Energy has awarded a $20 million grant to establish an Energy Frontier Research Center to be headed by Professor Law. The center will be a collaboration between 14 researchers and will work on optimization and design of next-generation fuels derived from renewable resources. Andrew Kelley receives NSF EAPSI Fellowship
May 1, 2009

Andrew Kelley has been awarded an East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. This fellowship will allow Andrew to travel to Beijing this summer to conduct research at Tsinghua University. Andrew will be working with Professors Li and Zhang in the Thermal Engineering Department. His research project is entitled, "The deposition patterns of nano-structured titania films synthesized by a divergent stagnation flame."
 
 

 
Peng Zhang awarded Wu Prize for Excellence
November 11, 2008

Peng Zhang has been awarded the Wu Prize for Excellence. This prize is awarded to an upper-year engineering graduate student who has performed at the highest level as a scholar and researcher. The prize comes from a generous donation of Sir Gordon Y.S. Wu '58.
 
 

 
Farewell to Drs. Lu and Smallbone
August 22, 2008

Two members of our group, Dr. Tianfeng Lu and Dr. Andrew Smallbone, are leaving. Tianfeng has taken a position as an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut. Andy will move to Cambridge, England for his new position at Reaction Engineering Solutions Ltd. A farewell party was held in their honor.
